Who does what

iNaturalist — where every observation lives: photos, location, community identification, and later the DNA result. Nothing here replaces it.
MycoMap — the sequencing network: plates of dried tissue go to its lab, sequences come back and are posted to the observation and to GenBank, the public DNA database.
Mycota Lab — with the Hoosier Mycological Society, funds the Continental MycoBlitz rounds hosted on MycoMap.
FunDiS — the Fungal Diversity Survey; protocols for collecting and drying, and a national picture of what has been sequenced.
dikarya.us — Alan Rockefeller's tools: QR specimen labels made from iNaturalist observations, and a tool that compares a DNA sequence with its nearest relatives.
mrdbid.com — the earlier site this one replaces; its identification and validation scripts and documents stay reachable there until they move here.

Mushroom groups of the Gulf Coast

Group leaders: post your own events here
If you run a club or society in the region, write to contact@gulfcoastfungi.com and we will set up an account that lets you add, edit, and remove your group's events on the Events page yourself. In-person mycology and natural-history gatherings only (forays, meetings, talks, drying days); plain text; no sales, nothing about consuming mushrooms. A new group's first listings are checked by us before they appear; after that they go up as soon as you save. We may edit or remove any listing.

Clubs and societies on or near the Gulf Coast, or in the network above them. Gulf Coast Fungi runs no forays of its own; it points to these groups' events and offers help with getting specimens sequenced. Listed when the group has a working website and a sign of activity in the past two years; kept in data/groups.csv and re-checked when something changes. Missing one? Write to contact@gulfcoastfungi.com.
